Sardara Singh aka Sardar Singh Biography
Saradara Singh aka Sardar Singh is a International level hockey player. On 15th July 1986 Sardar singh was given birth at Santnagar, Rania Tehsil Sirsa which is located in the North Indian state Haryana. He
is the currently the Senior Men's Indian hockey team captain. Saradar Singh covers the central mid field position which can be called the nucleus/cpu of the team. Sardar SIngh generates speed, skill & tactical game play which is best mixed with each other to form him as a formidable player. He was the youngest ever player to lead the senior Indian Hockey men's team when
he led the side at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2008.He was
awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, in 2015 for his excellence in field hockey.
Sardara Singh Career
Sardar
Singh started his career as debut for India in the junior team in 2003-2004,
Poland.Saradar Singh nearly was about to quit the game during his junior career.He was really shy to play in front of huge crowds.Also it was said that during the full 70 minutes he did'n't even touch the ball.That was the time he felt he was not an essential fit in the squad.But then came the surprise,he got a call for the senior men's team.Then he made his senior debut against Pakistan in 2006.He is a Deputy
Superintendent Police Officer with the Haryana Police and plays for their team.In
2005, sardar played for Chandigarh Dynamos in the inaugural season of the
premier Hockey League. He played for Hyderabad Sultans in the next three
seasons till 2008 as captaining the side. In 2010,he was included in the 18.men
FIH All-Star team. In the same year, he was signed by the Belgian club to play
in the Belgian Hockey League.He made an impressive show at the 2013 Asia cup
that leads to signing of Dutch club,HC Bloemendaal as a replacement to Teun de
Nooijer.
Sardar
singh became the highest-paid marquee player as the Delhi franchise brought him
for USD 78,000. The team was named as Delhi Waveriders. He was the captain by
his side to a second place finish in its inaugural season and awarded as the
‘Player of the Tournament’.
Singh made that
there is no bigger dream than winning an Olympic medal and so he made sure that
the sport of Hockey gets its rightful image back.when he was played as junior
debut in Poland in 2003-2004, he has seen the Indian Teams go from Highs to
Lows.However singh has consistently improved and made his presence felt at the
highest level of sport.
Sardar was appointed as the captain
of the Indian Hockey team in the Sultan Azlan Shah cup thus becoming the
youngest Indian player to be at the helm of affairs on the field.As India
failed to qualify for the last Olympics, all the seniors faced the darkest
moments in Indian hockey,sardar built up a new younger and energetic team which
made winning the Commenwealth and Asian Games gold. Under singh,Indian team
became the first team to qualify for the Rio Olympics.Singh is a big player in
the Indian midfiled, respected by the younger players who look forward to his
wisdom on the field. Sardar is also an Arjuna Award winner and one of the big
names in Indian advertising with deals worth 4.5 crores.

Ø In
2006, he participated in Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Malaysia and
the team won the Bronze medal. In SAF games at Colombo placed 2nd position.
Ø In
2007, he participated in BDO Hockey Champions challenge at Belgium and got
Bronze medal.
Ø He
participated in Four Nations International Tournament at Germany and won Bronze medal.
Ø In
Four Nations Hockey Tournament at Lahore won Silver medal
Ø He
participated in Hockey Asia at Chennai 2007 and won Gold medal.
Ø In
2010 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, India won the Gold
Ø In
2012 Summer Olympics Qualifiers, India won the Gold medal.
In 6th December 2015
India won the Bronze medal at the Hero Hockey World League Final 2015 played
under the Hockey team captain Sardara Singh.He made the Indian Hockey team from
the lows to highs.Thus ,conclude that the Arjuna Award winner Sardara Singh
being 29, made the Indian Hockey team as popular bringing the team to the
success.
