BIRENDRA LAKRA
Birendra Lakra is one of the rock solid defender's in world hockey .Most player's have up's & down's in each match but Birendra Lakra ensures his 100% consistency each time he steps into the turf .As he gives his classy moves and tackles all the time ,his performance would be like a normal performer.But when seen from a technical side he is one top defender in the world.
Birendra Lakra missed his journey to Rio because of his ligament tear during the HIL 2016 playing for the Ranchi Rhinos against Dabang Mumbai.Although Birendra Lakra was recovered enough to secure a place in the 6 Nation tournament in Valencia,Spain , he was not completely fit.So making him play at Rio would be a big risk for the Indian team in the future..His counter attacking moves , his sneaky stick checks , his through passes , the control he has over his defenders will surely be a big miss for the Indian team.
GURBAJ SINGH
Gurbaj Singh the ignitor of the Indian mid-field has not been in the scene for a while as he was banned saying that he created groupism inside the team which inturn resulted inharmony within the squad.Although he was exhiled from the squad Gurbaj was very determinded to make a come back in the squad.He was sidelined in the HIL because of the issue with the board , he din't have any opportunity to showcase his smoothy skills.Once the ban has been revoked Gurbaj showcased his form and fitness in the National tournaments and got himself a place in the SAF ,Games where most of the team members were newbie as the tier1 players was playin the HIL 2016.Although Gurbaj displayed his fine tuned skills he still was not able to bag his place in the squad .
Dhanraj Pillay , the former Indian captain himself had his shout for Gurbaj Singh for a Olympic birth seeing his recent form.Gurbaj Singh who plays the role of the right half in the playing 11 always had his trade mark right long dodge skill which is very well known by the defenders but still would give the opponents a night mare to steal the ball from him. Gurbaj's run along the right flank ,the accurate right wing crosses which he provides ,his experience would surely be missed in the current squad.Also the trio combination of Gurbaj , Sardar & Birendra in the defensive half would be a miss for all Indian fans.
The mid-fielder who has played more than 200+ matches for the Indian team was really unfortunate for all the happenings and had to miss the board to fly Rio.
MD AMIR KHAN
Md Amir Khan is one of the rising stars of the Indian hockey team.Amir ,a young lad from Allahabad plays as a forward in the squad.Amir made his entry to the senior team by replacing his injured state mate and friend Lalit.Indeed Amir showed his presence with some bold moves .Unlike other players while playing their debut was never nervous from his start .To tell one valid statistic ,Amir was the trigger which resulted in India winning the bronze in the HWL,Finals against the Netherland's .The Netherland forward against Amir who tried to dodge past him was all clueless when Amir stole the ball with his quick reactions(left to right in no matter of time) backed by a quick through pass to Sardar which ended in India's first goal and then the game completely changed to India's hands.But after displaying such impressive and commendable performance Amir was not in the further squads.But his quick runs and counter attacks would be a miss again ...!

TALWINDER SINGH
Talwinder Singh also plays as a forward in the Indian team. Talwinder has a strong physique , which makes him easy to lunge into a crowd of defense.Talwinder is one clinical finisher who the team can rely on when the ball is in the shooting circle.If the angle's are clear and Talwinder has the ball , it is a goal ! His pace and finishing will be an obvious miss for the team.
MANDEEP SINGH
Mandeep Singh another attacking forward , the team would clearly feel his absence when they really need a goal .Mandeep has the lucky charm to score goals at will when the team requires .Mandeep's ability to make himself on the score sheet often would have made the youngster with a tag"Olympian".Mandeep's presence inside the opposition D circle , his nature to locate himself in a goal scoring place will be surely missed .
Although the Indian Olympic hockey Men's team selected 16 has the best combo ,team Indian hockey news still believe's that a couple of player's could have been replaced by the above listed players which could have made the team much stronger !
