8 Things you must know about SARDAR SINGH
1) Sardar Singh was the youngest ever Captain

Sardar Singh was the youngest ever captain of the Indian men's hockey team. He was assigned the role of captain during the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2008. Sardar Singh being just 22 years old during the tournament managed to bring home the Silver medal in his first assignment as the captain.
2) Sardar Singh, The only Indian Midfielder to get a place in FIH all Star Team

Sardar Singh is the only player to get a place in FIH All star team in back to back years 2011 & 2012. Although as a defender Dilip Tirkey had the same feat in 2006 & 2007. Indeed after showing off some unique Indian dribbling skills, Sardar Singh was also nominated for the FIH Player of the year for the year 2012 but was unfortunate to hold the award.
Note: FIH nominates only 5 of the world's top players from which one would win the award.

Sardar Singh was appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Haryana Police once he cemented his place in the senior squad. Sardar Singh could be hardly seen with his police uniform because of his hectic international schedule but once he is off the field, he is will be serving the Nation as the DSP, Haryana police.

Sardar Singh has received the fourth highest civilian award in 2015 - The Padma Shri award for his contribution towards the Indian Hockey. Sardar Singh was also nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2015.
5) Sardar Singh, The proud Indian to bear the Flag in Asian Games 2014, Incheon

Sardar Singh the Indian hockey captain during the Asian Games 2014, Incheon was also honoured as the flag bearer to represent the entire Indian sportsman participating in the tournament. Sardar proved his respect back by clinching the Gold medal for the Indian Men's team which also paved way for
India's entry to the Rio Olympics.
6) Sardar Singh's elder brother, Didar is also a Hockey player

Sardar Singh has a elder brother named Didar Singh who is also a hockey player. Didar Singh is a specialist drag flicker cum defender. Didar Singh is also a renowned player in Indian circuit, he has played for the Hyderabad Sultans in the Premier Hockey League and also represent the Haryana team.

Sardar Singh is the only Indian hockey player to play for the historic and famous dutch club HC Bloemendaal which was established at 1895. Infact Sardar was selected as the replacement of retired Dutch legend Teun de Nooijer
