Danish started off this journey solely
because of a passionate spirit. He even felt it’s better than studying. the Allahabad star has come from a
hockey-fanatic family, hence he didn’t face much problems in grooming this
skill.Danish’s father Ghulam is a former state player and his elder brother
Humza is currently playing for Indian Oil. His grandfather Itris Ahmed too
played hockey and uncle Aatif Itris represented Indian Airlines. As said by
Danish,”My family was closely attached to hockey so no one stopped me from
playing and I knew if I stopped playing hockey then I would be forced to study.
I continued playing only to run away from studies”. Despite that he completed
his graduation recently.
He started testing his skills when he was 11 years. He couldn’t have chosen
another sport cause it’s hard to break his family traditions, He grew up
watching his father and brother play and it was a natural choice. At 13,he
tried his hand at the Sports Hostel in Lucknow. “I was very nervous during the
three-day trials, and it was the first big competition for me. Getting selected
in the hostel is a big thing in UP,”he recalls.
