Rupinder Pal Singh's Personal Life

Rupinder Pal Singh is a professional Indian hockey player who was born on the 11th of November,1990 and is 25 years of age. He was born and brought up in Farikdot, Punjab. He started at the age of 12 and humbly succeeded his way to the top . He plays at the fullback position, starting with training at one of the best Hockey centres at his hometown and first got selected for the Chandigarh Hockey Academy. He has been playing for the national team since the year 2010 and also plays for the Delhi Waveriders and the Indian Overseas Bank since 2013. He is well known as the best drag flicker. Rupinder debut was during the Sultan Azlan Cup in Ipoh in May 2010 where India won Gold.

In his initial stage, he achieved his first hat-trick against Britain in 2011 , Sultan Azlan Cup in Ipoh in May 2010 where India won Gold. That was a big step to fame for this young talent since he was actually included solely due to the absence on Sandeep Singh. It was purely luck that favoured him and that in turn was favourable for the team . He was a significant player in the 2011 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy, where India won Gold.

In the same year, Rupinder was a part of the Men’s Hockey Challenge 1 Trophy, where India scored 3-3 against Belgium ,one of the goals contributed by Rupinder Pal in the 4 th minute. This skill and efficiency is commendable, something which keeps growing tremendously.
He had been injured in 2012, but regained his form and was included in the match series against South Africa that year. Also that year in the Sultan Azlan Cup, India beat Great Britain and qualified for the third position , which he was a part of. 




The very same year saw the victory of the Indian Team in the Men’s Hockey Championship Trophy where they won the silver medal. He was one of the top scorers in the Asian Champions Trophy, an event in 2012 where Rupinder scored 4 goals, including one goal against Pakistan in the finals. This was the main factor due to which he was bought by the Delhi Waveriders in 2013 for the Hockey Indian League and he excelled by scoring 8 goals for the team which finished 2 nd in the League. He was bought by them for a price of 56,000 USD . Rupinder was shocked as he claimed, “I was surprised when the Delhi side picked me up for such a huge money but the tournament gave me a good platform to hone my skills.

Another remarkable moment for Rupinder was during the Men’s FIH Hockey World League 2012-2013 ,where he scored 7 goals in round 2. The glorious times just keep adding on for this young player as he won the top scorer award in 2013 for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup . Following that in the same year,Rupinder scored 6 goals in the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup which led India to win Silver.Despite all these huge successes and victories which led him to reach such high positions, in 2013, he applied for a cash award o the basis of being part of the silver medal winning Indian team in the Asian Champions Trophy 2012 and sent his form to the Sports Department but wasn’t chosen for the award.His bright victories did not end. 



In 2014, During the Hockey World Cup against Spain, the score was 1-1 where Rupinder was the skilled one to score . He was also a part of the Men’s Hockey World Cup in the same year. In brief, the year 2014 has been a big turning point and a showcase of efficient skill by Rupinder Singh. He was involved in the 2014 Commonwealth Games where the Indian Team won silver.The highly celebrated Gold achieved by the Indian Team in the 2014 ,17th Asian Games was another big win for the team. Overall the has been an important contributor to the Delhi Waveriders in 2014. 


He was known for being a penalty corner specialist and his goal is to be a standout player for his team,Which he is amazingly succeeding to do. He is excited to display his skill and efficiency alongside other veteran players. Undoubtedly he has been one of the key members in enabling his team to win the second season of the tournament. He was instrumental in the 2014 Men’s Hockey Trophy where India stood 4th. 



The 2014-2015 Men’s FIH Hockey World League, India was successful in winning the bronze medal.Recently in this six nations Hockey tournament 2016, India fights back against Argentina with a score of 3-3 . Rupinder along with ramandeep Singh and walmini scored this tie breaking goals. Rupinder Pal earned a penalty corner in the final minute of the third quarter but his goal was saved by the opponent.
Despite that tie in the score, Indian gets to take on Spain in their final goal.The journey doesn’t end for this budding talent. Since the gearing up is towards the Rio Olympics 2016, more progress and victories are awaited for ,by Rupinder Pal Singh.
