Rupinder Pal Singh's Personal Life
Rupinder Pal Singh is a professional Indian hockey player who was born on the 11th of November,1990 and is 25 years of age. He was born and brought up in Farikdot, Punjab. He started at the age of 12 and humbly succeeded his way to the top . He plays at the fullback position, starting with training at one of the best Hockey centres at his hometown and first got selected for the Chandigarh Hockey Academy. He has been playing for the national team since the year 2010 and also plays for the Delhi Waveriders and the Indian Overseas Bank since 2013. He is well known as the best drag flicker. Rupinder debut was during the Sultan Azlan Cup in Ipoh in May 2010 where India won Gold.Rupinder Pal Singh's Hockey Journey
In his initial stage, he achieved his first hat-trick against Britain in 2011 , Sultan Azlan Cup in Ipoh in May 2010 where India won Gold. That was a big step to fame for this young talent since he was actually included solely due to the absence on Sandeep Singh. It was purely luck that favoured him and that in turn was favourable for the team . He was a significant player in the 2011 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy, where India won Gold.
In the same year, Rupinder was a part of the Men’s Hockey Challenge 1 Trophy, where India scored 3-3 against Belgium ,one of the goals contributed by Rupinder Pal in the 4 th minute. This skill and efficiency is commendable, something which keeps growing tremendously.
He had been injured in 2012, but regained his form and was included in the match series against South Africa that year. Also that year in the Sultan Azlan Cup, India beat Great Britain and qualified for the third position , which he was a part of.
The very same year saw the victory of the Indian Team in the Men’s Hockey Championship Trophy where they won the silver medal. He was one of the top scorers in the Asian Champions Trophy, an event in 2012 where Rupinder scored 4 goals, including one goal against Pakistan in the finals. This was the main factor due to which he was bought by the Delhi Waveriders in 2013 for the Hockey Indian League and he excelled by scoring 8 goals for the team which finished 2 nd in the League. He was bought by them for a price of 56,000 USD . Rupinder was shocked as he claimed, “I was surprised when the Delhi side picked me up for such a huge money but the tournament gave me a good platform to hone my skills.”
