India Vs Argentina Hockey Rio Olympics 2016:A Cheeky Win For India
The Indian Men's hockey team displayed a much improved game play from their previous game against the German's to earn their second victory in the Rio Olympic games 2016 against the Argentine's with a 2-1 margin .The Indian team framed up their game with a confident start in the first quarter.The forwards started to produce more runs into the circle and a move by S.V Sunil earned a PC for India in the 7th minute.But the Rupinder failed to score but still managed to earn another PC.
Goal 1 8th Minute:Ramandeep Singh made a mistake in pushing the PC ball to the PC stopper's right hand side but it became a run of luck for the Indian's.The stopper - Chinglensena Singh trapped the ball and had a direct hit into the left bottom corner of the goal.
After the first goal , the Indian team had their momentum with them and gave little time for the Argentine fans to cheer in the second quarter.Later in the third quarter the Argentine's tried to spread out their sturdy game but could was only able to earn an another excellent field goal by Kothajit Singh in the 37th minute.
Goal 2 37th minute:The Indian's attacked from the right side and Harmanpreet displayed some profound stick skills to earn a foul near the dotted D circle. Akashdeep quickly started the play and passed the ball into the D circle which found Kothajit Singh .Kothajit had a powerful drag push into the goalkeeper's left corner.And the argentine goalkeeper was clueless.
It was never a thriller until the start of the fourth quarter.The Argentines pressed hard with back to back counter attacks which resulted in PC in the 49th minute where Gonzalo Peillat scored with a stunning drag-flick.After the first goal the entire Indian team was back in defense which endured in multiple counter attacks and penalty corners.However the Indian team were sensible enough to learn from their previous mistake and held the possession well in the last minutes.As well they managed to give few attacks. Sardar Singh and S.V Sunil held the possession well in the final minutes to earn the quarter-final birth for the Indian team.Next the Indian team plays the Netherlands on 11th August by 6.30 PM IST .
