the Olympic Games after 36 years, have indeed displayed a strong spirit of
fighting back and managed to hold the Japan’s victory making their first league
match a draw.

First Quarter:
- With a lot of pressure mounting on India as they have been waiting for this moment for 36 years, it took a while for them to adjust and take up the control.
- Japan started off really well as they scored in the initial hours of the match which took them a lead against India.
In the end of first quarter, Japan finished with 1-0 on
the scoreboard!
Second Quarter:
- Japan established their high-end skills by giving counter attacks from the start.
- Nakashima, the Japanese player deflected the line across the Indian goalkeeper successfully and brought a goal to add on their scoreboard!
- The tension was on India as they were lacking behind in the first half of the match.
In the end of second quarter, Japan was lucky enough to

The penalty corner was used efficiently, where Rani Rampal was the first one to score for the Nation making a move upwards on the scorecard with India 1-2 Japan.
- Both the teams gained penalty corner during this quarter but it was not used well as they both equally botched to score.
- In the closing stage, India turned out to move forward and successfully gained a GOAL as they pass through the circles and at last reached the net leveling the score to 2-2. This time it was Lilima Minz who was clever enough to pocket it right!
- Japan got chances to score but the Indian goalie Savita did extraordinary saves for her side!
At the end of third quarter, India took a big step forward
and stood strong near Japan with 2-2 on the scoreboard!
Fourth Quarter:
- The last quarter of the match went really good as both the teams performed well backing each other with counter attacks and trying to put their best foot forward.
- With less than 6 minutes to go, India earned a penalty corner. That would have been the winning goal for India; unfortunately the Japan goalkeeper thrived in saving it.
- India and Japan tried till the very end to score their winning goal but due to the tough defenses they were restricted to 2-2 on the board!
At the end of fourth quarter, India finished the match
with a 2-2 draw against Japan in their first Olympic league match!
