It was quite a set back for the Indian Men's Hockey team for losing such a key player due to injury at the Olympics...He is the CPU of the Indian defense... Now still if you are not aware of the player... Check it out now...! He is back in the Asian Men's Champion Trophy 2016!
After the squad was announced for the Asian Champions Trophy there was no doubt on Birendra Lakra's name since he showed of his consistency and fitness right away during the camp.The team is completely delighted to have their silent colleague who rather displays in actions then in words.
Birendra Lakra indeed should be credited much for his fast recovery while it takes 6 to 8 months to recover.But Birendra was back in action just in 4 months.He along with Shrikant Iyenger(Physio) made a step by step rehabilitation process.Also Hockey India should be highly appreciated for the complete support for Birendra's injury.Infact one of the tendon was imported from US.Normally a tendon would be cut from a hamstring and would be planted but HI supported this allograft(a tissue graft from a donor of the same species as the recipient but not genetically identical.)Birendra is all excited to be back in the blue jersey and says he wants to perform consistently as he did earlier.
