The Indian Men's Hockey team started the Asian Champions Trophy as favorites and have established their reign over the Asian teams by staying undefeated throughout the tournament.The Pakistan men's team being the defending champions was not able to take home the cup.
The match started with some energetic performance from the Indian men's team .The Indian team scored the 1 st goal through a Rupinder pal's drag flick . The lead was doubled by the Indian's through Affan Yousuf's deflecting goal through a Sardar's long accurate pass into the D circle which was sharply shot into the post by Ramandeep Singh.But the pakistani's came back strong to bring down the lead through a PC drag flick by Aleem.In the end of first half India was leading 2 - 1 .
The Pakistan equalised through a miss trap by Rupinder and was shot strong into the post by Ali Shan.
But today's man of the match was Nikkin Thimmiah of India. He was on fire from the first moment.One of his moves from the mid-field from the instance of receiving he dodged past 2 defenders and then eliminating another experienced Pakistani defender through a quick right dodge was amazing to watch.He then passed it to Talwinder but it was shot above the post.But Nikkin had the last touch to make it 3 goals to 2 in the final quarter to make Indian men's team Champions.
